We’re proud to share that the Whorl Coffee Table has been awarded a Silver A’ Design Award in the Furniture Design category at the 2026 A’ Design Award & Competition, announced this past April in Como, Italy.

Entries are judged anonymously by a grand jury of academics, design press, and established professionals. The Silver distinction is reserved for the top 5% of entries, work judged to reach an exemplary level of quality. For a small studio out of Barrie, Ontario, it’s a meaningful place to land.
About the Whorl
The Whorl began as a question we keep coming back to: how far can you push wood before it stops looking like wood?
It’s built from sustainably sourced ash using a bent lamination technique – a complex technique that lets us turn rigid boards into flowing, ribbon-like legs. Those legs carry a geometric tapered solid top, so the piece holds real structural integrity while reading as something almost in motion. Rigid material, fluid form.

Whorl challenges traditional furniture design while celebrating the expressive beauty of natural wood. The design merges structural integrity with organic movement, transforming rigid wood into a fluid form that feels alive. Why it matters to us
Most of what leaves our shop is custom work for clients and designers, and we love that work. But pieces like the Whorl, where we get to design a piece ourselves and push the boundaries of what is possible is fun challenge that we embrace. An award like this is a signal that there’s an audience for that kind of work, and that the techniques we’ve been developing holds up against the best in the world.
It also reflects how we think about everything we build. Crafted to endure. Built to outlast trends.
